Indian sweet Balushahi Detailed recipe. Balushahi is an Indian dessert that have an appearance like donuts. They are crispy and flaky and soft from inside. Balushahi is everyone’s favorite as they melt in the mouth.

Balushahi1.jpg Its made specially for Holi but you can make this on any occasion. This recipe is very simple and less time consuming. So lets prepare Balushahi


Ingredients (Makes around 14- 16 balushahis)

  • All purpose flour- 3 cups
  • Baking soda- 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee(Clarified butter)- 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt-  8 tbsp
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Water- 2 tbsp(for dough)
  • Sugar- 2 cup
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder- 1 tsp(optional)
  • Saffron strands- few(optional)
  • Ghee- for frying

  • In a bowl, add all purpose flour, baking soda, salt and yogurt. Crumble it well.Balushahi step 01
  •  Add ghee. Balushahi step 02
  • Crumble it well . Do not over mix it.Balushahi step 03
  • Add 2 tbsp water. Gather it into a dough. Do not knead it too much otherwise. Let it set for 10 – 15 mins.Balushahi step 04
  •  For sugar syrup-In a saucepan, add sugar and a cup of water. Let it boil on a medium flame.Balushahi step 05
  • Boil the sugar syrup until its thick. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands if you want. We don’t need 2 string consistency of syrup. It should be little thin so that the balushahis gets soaked in it very well. (Tip- add a little bit of lemon juice so the syrup will not crystallize)Balushahi step 06
  • When the dough has set, make small balls of dough. Take a ball and press it in the centre so that it cooks well. Balushahi step 07
  • Make this of complete dough in the same way.Balushahi step 08
  •  Heat ghee in a frying pan. Add ghee enough that balushahis  gets dipped in it.Balushahi step 09
  • Add the balushahi balls in cold ghee and fry them on a low flame to acheive a flaky balushahi.Balushahi step 010
  • Balushahi will start floating over the ghee. Do not flip them.Balushahi step 11
  • When the balushahi start turning golden brown, turn them.


  • Fry them till they are complete golden brown. Balushahi step 14
  • When done, remove them and let it cool. Balushahi step 14
  • When they are cool , dip them in sugar syrup. Gently remove them from syrup.

Til Gul Laddu

Til gul Laddu recipe step by step. Happy Makar Sankranti everyone. I have used organic Sesame seeds which are more flavorful than polished ones. Sharing these delicious laddu recipe which are tasty and healthy too. Til gul laddu1


  • Sesame seeds(til)- 2 cups
  • Jaggery (Gul) – 1 1/2 cups (chopped into fine peices)
  • Peanuts- 1/4 cup
  • Ghee- 1 tbsp

  •  Roast sesame seeds on a medium and then on  low flame. Til gul laddu Step 01.jpg
  • Roast until it changes color and aroma comes. Roast for 10 min to 15 mins. When done, remove and keep aside.Til gul laddu Step 02
  • Roast Peanuts until they are crunchy. Remove its skin . Til gul laddu Step 04

  • Coarsely grind 1 cup of roasted  sesame seeds. Til gul laddu Step 06.jpg

  • When the jaggery starts melting, Mix continuously to prevent burning.Til gul laddu Step 09.jpg
  • Keep mixing until the jaggery dissolves completely. Cook for around 5 mins on slow flame.Til gul laddu Step 10
  • Turn the flame off. Add the coarsely grind Sesame seeds, peanuts and the remaining sesame seeds to the hot mixture of Jaggery. Til gul laddu Step 11
  • Mix them well until Jaggery and the dry ingredients are binded well. Til gul laddu Step 12.jpg
  • Start making laddus when the mixture is hot. Don’t make this mixture cold as they cannot be shaped. Apply some oil/ghee on palms while making laddus.Til gul laddu Step 13.jpg

For Chocolate cake- 

  • All purpose flour- 2 cups
  • Condensed milk- 3/4 cups
  • Baking powder- 1 tsp
  • Baking soda- 1 tsp
  • Oil- 8 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence- 2 tsp
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Chocolate chips(dark)- for garnishing
  • Strawberries- sliced, 10 to 12
  • Strawberries- whole,for garnishing, as much as you wish 😉

For Chocolate cream-

  • Whipped cream- 1 cup
  • Dark chocolate- 1/4 cup,chopped or chocolate chips

For Chocolate Ganache-

  • Dark Chocolate- 1/2 cup,chopped or chocolate chips
  • Fresh cream- 1/2 cup

  • Add condensed milk. Whisk until Oil is immersed well in condensed milk.
  • In another bowl, sieve All purpose flour. Sieve baking powder and baking soda. Strawberry Chocolate cake step 06
  • Then sieve cocoa powder. With help of spatula mix well.
  • In wet ingredients add Vanilla essence and whisk it.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 09
  • Add wet ingredients in dry ingredients and mix everything well.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 010
  •  With the help of Blender/whisker/Mixer mix the cake batter until well blended. Then slowly add 1/2 cup water. Blend. Again add 1/2 cup water and blend it well.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 11
  • Brush baking tin with oil.Add 1/2 of the cake batter. Microwave on 450 degrees for 1/2 hour.
  • When done, insert toothpick in center of the cake. If it comes out clean, that means your cake is ready. Remove cake from tin and let it cool down completely on a cooling rack. Similarly bake the remaining batter.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 14
  • When the second cake cools, prepare the frosting. For that prepare double boiler.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 15
  • Take whipped cream and heat it in double boiler. When the whipped cream becomes warm, add chocolate. Mix until the chocolate completely dissolves in it. Let it cool. Wrap the plastic on bowl and refrigerate it.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 17
  • Now prepare chocolate ganache. For that take add fresh cream in a bowl and add chocolate. Microwave for 1 min and check. If the chocolate doesn’t dissolve, microwave it again. Let it cool completely.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 18
  • Assembling cake- Take a serving platter or turn table. Place a cake. Strawberry Chocolate cake step 20
  • Spread chocolate cream on top of the cake. Use a knife if you don’t have spatula.Strawberry Chocolate cake step 21

  • Then place another cake on top of first cake. Strawberry Chocolate cake step 23
  • Now apply chocolate cream on the top of the second cake. Strawberry Chocolate cake step 24

Homemade Chocolates

Chocolates are loved by kids. Preparing chocolates at home is very easy. I am preparing chocolate for Christmas as my Kids holidays are starting from today.

  • Dark chocolate- 400 gm
  • Almonds- 15(chopped or whole)
  • Nutella- as needed
  • Rice crisps- 1/2 bowl
  • Milk chocolate- 100 gm
  • Chocolate moulds

For wrapping- 

  • Aluminium foil- Cut into squares
  • Gift wrapping paper- Cut into squares
  • Golden thread

  • Chop chocolate finely with the help of knifeHomemade chocolates step 02
  • Melt the chocolate in microwave for 1 min. If you don’t have microwave then melt chocolate in double boiler.
  • Let the chocolate cool. Place a plate under the chocolate mold. Homemade chocolates step 06
  • First I’m making plain chocolate.Add the melted chocolate in mold.Homemade chocolates step 07
  • Keep them in freeze. Don’t keep them in refrigerator otherwise the chocolate will become too hard. Set it for 30 mins.
  •  Fill another mold with chocolate till its half. Add the almonds and again fill it with melted chocolate.


  • Set them in freeze . Remove from the mold when done.
  • Fill mold with chocolate till its half. Add 1 tsp of Nutella. Again add chocolate till its full.
  • Set them in freeze. Remove from mold when done.
  • Now I will make milk chocolate with rice crisps. My chocolate is small so I don’t need to chop them. Chop chocolate if they are big. Melt the chocolate in microwave/double boiler.
  •  Then fill the mold with milk chocolate till half. Add 1/2 tsp of rice crisps. Don’t add too much of rice crisps otherwise your chocolate will not set properly.


  • Again fill the mold with chocolate till its full. Set and remove the chocolate from mold when done. My chocolates are ready.


Wrapping of chocolates-

  •   I have gathered things required for wrappingHomemade chocolates step 25
  • Take one square foil and place the chocolate upside down. Start folding the foil till its pack.

  • Then take a square cut gift paper. Place the chocolate on gift paper, start wrapping first the two sides and then taking the other two sides.

Vanilla Cupcakes(Eggless)

Vanilla cupcakes are delicious and loved by everyone.But when we get wrong recipe and failing to make cupcakes,it can be disappointing. The recipe which I am sharing is tried and tested. After preparing this moist, light and fluffy cupcake you will never buy them from bakeries. The best thing about this cupcakes that they are egg less!!! (please see to it that you use measuring cups for doing the recipe)

Serving- makes 24 cupcakes


  • All purpose flour- 3 cups
  • Powdered sugar- 1.5 cups
  • Baking powder- 1 tsp
  • Baking soda- 1 tsp
  • Oil- 1.5 cups
  • Milk- 1 cup
  • Vanilla essence – 2 tsp
  • Plain Vinegar- 2 tbsp
  • Tutti frutti- for topping (optional)
  •  Chocochips- for  topping (optional)

  • Add powdered sugar and mix with the help of spatula.Vanilla cupcakes step 03

  • In another bowl, mix oil and milk. Whisk together until oil and milk gets mixed well.Vanilla cupcakes step 05

  • In wet ingredients, mix the dry ingredients. First mix 1/2 of the dry ingredients and mix them with spatula.Vanilla cupcakes step 07.jpg
  • Then add remaining flour in the batter. Mix well until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Add vinegar. Give it a quick mix with spatula. You can see bubbles rising up in batter.


  • Line the cupcake tray with liners. Preheat the oven on 180° for 2 mins.Vanilla cupcakes step 12.jpg
  • With the help of scoop or a spoon, Add the batter in liners. Fill it 3/4. Vanilla cupcakes step 13.jpg
  • Top some tutti frutti if you want. My kids love them so I am adding it. Bake them at 450°  for 7 mins.Vanilla cupcakes step 14.jpg

Date and Almond Truffle

Date and almond truffle for Christmas ………Delicious Dates and almonds dipped in dark chocolate. For kids who don’t like to eat dates or almonds this is the best way for them to eat. Its a quick and easy recipe. So lets start making Date and almond truffle.

Serving- Makes 10 truffles.


  • Dates- 10(with seed)
  • Almonds- 10
  • Dark chocolate- (1 bar)
  • Oil- 1 tablespoon
  • Whipped cream- optional (for serving)

  •  Cut the dates lengthwise and Remove the seeds.Almonds and dates truffle step 03
  • Place almond inside date. If your Date is big, you can place 2 almonds inside dates.Almonds and dates truffle step 04
  • Chop chocolate. In a bowl add chocolate and microwave for 1 min and add one tbsp of oil. Almonds and dates truffle step 02
  • Poke toothpick inside the date and dip the date and almond in chocolate. I used spatula and a spoon for this.Almonds and dates truffle step 05
  • Remove them on a butter paper. In the same way dip all the dates and almonds in chocolate.


  • Place them in freeze and let it set for 1 hour. Place the whipped cream in piping bag and make lines or design as you like.Almonds and dates truffle step 08

Apple Pie

Apple Pie is loved by everyone. This is a quick and easy method of making apple pie. Apple pie is a perfect dessert and you can make this for Christmas.

Here I have used my own way of making upper crust. I depends on what type of crust you want. I preferred to cook the apple filling and then baking of the pie. I have already shared the recipe of making pie crust. Here’s the link Pie Crust

  • Apples- 4 or 5, big
  • Castor sugar- 1 cup
  • Melted butter- 4 tbsp(unsalted, if salted then do not use salt)
  • Cinnamon powder- 1 tsp
  •  Salt- 1/2 tsp
  • Glaze- 1 teaspoon honey and one teaspoon water

  • Wash apples. Peel and cut them in medium pieces.Apple pie step 02
  • Heat a pan. Add butter and chopped apples. Saute for a min.Apple pie step 03
  • Then add Castor sugar. Saute the apples Apple pie step 04.jpg
  • When the sugar turns into liquid, add cinnamon powder. Mix well.Apple pie step 05
  • Then add the corn starch. Mix immediately. Apple pie step 06.jpg
  • Let it cook for 5 mins. Then turn down the flame. Remove the apple filling and let it cool down completely.Apple pie step 07.jpg
  • Bake your pie crust. Apple pie step 08.jpg
  • Roll out pie dough for upper crust. Cut out stripes with the help of knife.


  • Place your apple filing on pie crust. Now keep strips on one side lengthwise.Apple pie step 11
  • Now keep other strips from the opposite sides as shown.Apple pie step 12
  • Preheat the oven . Bake the Apple pie at 180° for 15 to 20 Mins.Apple pie step 14
  • When done, remove the pie and let it cool to remove it from pie plate.Apple pie step 15
